TRMS - K-5 Magnet Elementary Schools

Thames River Magnet School

Theme: Environmental and Marine Sciences

Thames River Magnet School provides hands-on experiences inside and outside of the classroom as we dig deep in the earth and sea!"

- Jamie Giordano, Principal of Thames River Magnet School

TRMS students engage in daily instruction in all core subjects combined with an environmental/life/marine sciences focus. As our learning and exploration grows, students will have hands-on opportunities to investigate and connect with life outside the classroom and school community through research and fieldwork exploration in our local area.

Opportunities Students Will Experience:

  • Project Based Science Lessons taught by an educator from Project O at TRMS, in the lab at Project O, and out in the field - beach or Research boat.
  • Weekly hands-on lessons with New England Science and Sailing Americorp Representatives.
  • Outdoor lessons in the soon to come garden beds, outdoor pavilion with rain barrel system and composting.
  • Use recycled materials for upcycling projects for Art and Hydroponics.
  • Maintain aquariums with fresh and salt water living animals and plants.
  • Weekly enrichment classes connected to our Magnet Theme including Technology.
