Learn About Our Early Childhood Programs
Any child who turns four years old on or before January 1 of the current school year is encouraged to be screened for Pre-Kindergarten. This program provides eligible children an opportunity to acquire appropriate readiness skills needed for a successful kindergarten experience. The screening process is used to determine eligibility. Children scoring within a target range will be selected for the program.
Children with strong skills in the areas of readiness, language, and socialization, act as peer role models in the Integrated Special Needs Preschool program. Children with eligible screening scores are selected for the program. Participants for this program must be at least 3 years old on or before the screening date.
Groton Public Schools is a competitive recipient of the School Readiness Grant administered by the Connecticut Department of Education. This grant provides full-day early childhood slots for 3 and 4-year-old children at community preschool programs.
