I want to welcome you and our new families to the 2019-2020 school year! I hope that everyone enjoyed the summer and found some time to relax. I am looking forward to seeing all of our students and hearing about their summer!
A special thank you needs to be extended to our custodial and maintenance staff for all of their efforts preparing the building. They spent time this summer deep cleaning. I love when we open the school every year to shining floors and new beginnings!
Mrs. Porter and I will share more information about curriculum at our Open House in October. We will continue to implement the Math, Reading, and Writing Workshop in every classroom. Just a reminder that all summer reading challenge packets need to be completed and returned to the school by September 9. I am excited to see how many students took the challenge!
On the back of this letter are some important dates/times for the beginning of the year. We will continue to have a morning recess for students this year. Please do not drop your student off prior to 8:30 a.m., as there is no supervision. Breakfast is offered at 8:30 a.m. Morning recess will run from 8:40-8:55 a.m. Lastly, enclosed you will find a copy of dismissal plans for your child for the school year. Please complete that form and return it to the school on the first day with your child.
In closing, we appreciate all of the support, time, and volunteering that families provide throughout the year. I thank you all for that! Teamwork between home and school is very important. It makes a difference in the success of our students at S.B. Butler Elementary School.
