Getting Started with Registration

1. Review the required documents.

2. Gather your documents and scan them on a printer or with your smartphone camera.

3. Start filling out the Online New Student Registration Form linked on this page in both English and Spanish. You may start the form, save your work, and return later to finish the form and upload any missing documents.

Registration Office Hours:

Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Residency Affidavits/ Verifications are done Monday - Thursday only from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Required Registration Documents

PROOF OF RESIDENCY

Proof of residency can be verified by submitting: (a) one document from column A and (b) one document from column B.

Only those items listed on the Documents for Proof of Residency table in this policy will be accepted as proof of residency. Each document submitted must specify the physical address of where the student lives; post office box addresses are not acceptable.

Residential property tax bill (dated within the past year)

Military Families Only (with 30-day follow-up):

Valid Connecticut driver’s license (address labels not accepted)

One of the following dated within the last 30 days:

Utility bill (gas, electric, telephone, cable TV, etc.)
Letter from an approved government agency
(assisted housing, food stamps, unemployment payment, etc.)
Payroll stub
Bank or credit card statement
Current vehicle registration or insurance bill
Medical billing or insurance information

*MILITARY FAMILIES ONLY

Military families planning to live at Beacon Point Homes (Balfour Beatty), but do not yet have a signed lease, may supply a Letter of Intent provided by Beacon Point Homes. Families must supply the required residency documents from Column A and B within 30 days of registration.
Military families coming to Groton without finalized housing arrangements but plan to live in Groton, may use Military Orders to register students in Groton Public Schools. Families must supply the required residency documents from Column A and B within 30 days of registration.
Military families already residing in Groton, either in Beacon Point Homes housing or renting in town, will need to provide the required residency documents from Column A and B.

*Notarized Residency Affidavit

If the student’s family is living with another family in Groton:

the person they are living with must complete a notarized Residency Affidavit at the Groton Public Schools’ Central Office stating that the student(s) and parent/guardian live with them at the address, and for what period of time.

The person completing the affidavit must also provide the following documents:

a photo ID
one document from column A and one document from column B showing they reside within District and school boundaries.

If the living situation is temporary, once they have moved into their own residence, proof of residency for their new address is required and must be brought to the Central Office Registration Office.

PHYSICAL EXAM AND IMMUNIZATION RECORDS

Proof of a physical exam from within the past 12 months of the anticipated school start date. Beginning this school year, the parent completed portion of the Health assessment Record (HAR) is completed in the Online Registration Form.
- Per the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health proof of immunizations is required. Current State of CT Immunization Requirements

* Newly enrolled students will not be permitted to physically enter their assigned school building if they are deemed non-compliant with state of CT Health requirements.

Registration Forms

Use this form if you are enrolling a student in our Preschool or Pre-K program for the 2025-2026 school year and you have already been screened and accepted a seat.

Registration must be completed by a legal parent/guardian.
