New Student Registration

Welcome to Groton Public Schools!

Groton Public Schools is home to five intra-district magnet themed elementary schools (Grades K-5), Groton Middle School (Grades 6-8) and Robert E. Fitch High School (Grades 9-12), as well as Early Childhood Programs for three and four year old children.

Registration must be completed by a legal parent or guardian.

Then, complete the 2024-2025 New Student Registration Form and upload your required documents. Photos of documents taken are a smartphone are accepted. Document photos must be clear and we must be able to read the required information.

Required Registration Documents

PROOF OF RESIDENCY

Proof of residency can be verified by submitting: (a) one document from column A and (b) one document from column B.

Only those items listed on the Documents for Proof of Residency table in this policy will be accepted as proof of residency. Each document submitted must specify the physical address of where the student lives; post office box addresses are not acceptable.

Residential property tax bill (dated within the past year)

Military Families Only (with 30-day follow-up):

Valid Connecticut driver’s license (address labels not accepted)

One of the following dated within the last 30 days:

Utility bill (gas, electric, telephone, cable TV, etc.)
Letter from an approved government agency
(assisted housing, food stamps, unemployment payment, etc.)
Payroll stub
Bank or credit card statement
Current vehicle registration or insurance bill
Medical billing or insurance information

*Notarized Residency Affidavit

If the student’s family is living with another family in Groton:

the person they are living with must complete a notarized Residency Affidavit at the Groton Public Schools’ Central Office stating that the student(s) and parent/guardian live with them at the address, and for what period of time.

The person completing the affidavit must also provide the following documents:

a photo ID
one document from column A and one document from column B showing they reside within District and school boundaries.

If the living situation is temporary, once they have moved into their own residence, proof of residency for their new address is required and must be brought to the Central Office Registration Office.

PHYSICAL EXAM AND IMMUNIZATION RECORDS

Proof of a physical exam from within the past 12 months of the anticipated school start date. For the 2024-2025 school year the HAR is completed in the Registration Form.
- Per the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health proof of immunizations is required. 2023-2023 Immunization Requirements.

* Newly enrolled students will not be permitted to physically enter their assigned school building if they are deemed non-compliant with state of CT Health requirements.

Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Residency Affidavits/Residency Verifications are done Monday - Thursday only from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
