Fall Sports Update for Monday, October 19th and Tuesday, October 20th 


Cohort A students interested in Cross Country and Soccer have their initial meeting on Monday, October 19th from 3:00-4:00 PM in the following areas:

  • Cross Country- Cafeteria 
  • Boys’ Soccer- Fitness room
  • Girls’ Soccer- Movement studio

If you haven’t done so, please bring a signed Permission Slip and updated physical to the meeting.

Late Buses will depart the school to bring students home at 4:00 PM.

Tuesday will be Cohort A’s first practice for both Cross Country and Soccer.  Students are to meet their coaches in the same locations listed above.

Late Buses will leave the school at 5:00 PM on Tuesday.

Groton Middle School Fall 2020 Sports and Intramural Programs


Boys and Girls Cross Country and Soccer

This Fall, GMS is planning to offer:

  • Cross Country - Interscholastic sport with four meets
  • Intramural Soccer 

Students were asked to complete a fall sports survey in their Advisory class. If your child did not have a chance to complete the survey, they can click on the link in the slides below to complete it.


Permission Slip and Current Physical Required:

In order to be eligible, students have to hand in a permission slip and have an up-to-date physical on file with the nurse. We will arrange a process to administer permission slips to students who are interested in participating, or you can click on Permission Slip to print one.

When will practices be held?

We are hoping to start practices during the week of September 28th.  Practices will take place between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 PM. Each coach will set the exact time and will communicate this with their athletes and parents.


Will there be a late bus after practice?

Yes. There will be a late bus provided for athletes, which will leave the school at 4 p.m. during the week of 9/28 - 10/4.



Can full distance learners participate?

Yes. Students who are fully remote learners may participate.



Please note: Due to COVID, several middle schools have canceled their interscholastic programs and opted to go with intramural programs. All our coaches will follow the CIAC's COVID guidelines specific to their sport.
