Groton Middle School Attendance Highlights

  • As of March 30th for 6th grade and April 5th for seventh and eighth grade- students who will learn in person 4 days will no longer be able to choose to learn from home. Students who do not come to school will be marked absent and an automated attendance call or a call from the office will be made to the students parent/guardian. 

  • If your child will be absent for all or part of the day, call 860-446-4200, press 1 for the attendance line. Leave your name, your child’s name, grade, date, what period(s) they will not attend and reason for absence. This absence will be recorded in Power School as UNEXCUSED. (UNX or DUNX) When Ms. Halliwell, jhalliwell@groton.k12.ct.us, receives an email or handwritten note from a parent/guardian the absence will be EXCUSED. (EXC or DEXC) 

  • Distance Learners - Parents/Guardians may receive an automated attendance call if your child does not answer the attendance question posted by each teacher at the time of their class. Students are then expected to stay in class via Zoom.

  • For in school early dismissal, please have your child bring a note to the office before homeroom.

  • You will receive an automated attendance call stating your child is absent, UNV/DUNV in Power School, if - 

    • You do not call the school to report your child's absence 

    • Your child does not answer the attendance question for each class at the check-in time

    • Your child does not come to school

  • Although we encourage your child to email their teachers and Ms. Halliwell, they cannot excuse themselves from class.
