Dear Groton Middle School Community:
I am extremely excited and thankful to have the opportunity to serve as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal here at the incredible new Groton Middle School. I am looking forward to the opportunity to foster strong relationships between students, families and the school. I believe that when all three of these stakeholders are working together towards the same goal we can experience extraordinary success. I will work tirelessly to continue to support a learning environment that is respectful, open, supportive and welcoming to all.
I understand that these are new and challenging times for our students and families. The format, schedule and delivery may be different, but I am extremely confident that we have done the proper preparation to ensure the safety as well as the social, emotional and educational development of our Groton Middle School students. Our teachers, counselors and support staff have been working incredibly hard this summer to find new ways to connect with students, maintain levels of support and provide a meaningful and interactive educational experience for all.
During my 20 years in education working at Kelly Middle School, Norwich Free Academy and Academia Cotopaxi in Quito, Ecuador, my approach has always been to make decisions based on what is best for students. The 8th grade year can be extremely formative and offers tremendous opportunities for personal growth. I will continue that student based approach here to support and guide them during this critical year of development. My goal is to help all students here at GMS to become informed, reflective and well rounded global citizens. The lessons learned, the successes and struggles we will overcome together this year will help to develop the skills and strong character they will need to reach their full potential in high school and beyond.
I encourage you to communicate with me if you have any questions, concerns or would like to share some ideas. I am always willing to listen and to work together to provide the best support possible for all our students. I look forward to meeting all of you and building new relationships in the coming school year.
WELCOME GMS 8th GRADE STUDENTS!
